Actions in Hungary contemporarily with ESF

The Housing Right must be included into the Hungarian Constitution – has been decided on the Social Roundtable organized by the Hungarian Social Forum on Friday, contemporaneously with the European Social Forum in Istanbul, and immediately rejected by the new hungarian government of centre-right. The Social Roundtable with a large participation of different organisations and the professional orientation of the former judge of the Hungarian Constitutional Court, Professor Janos Zlinszky, has decided to demand the starting of a social home building program in order to create the material basis of the Housing Right. As first step they have sollicitated the overall stop of the evictions in a country where about hundred thousand people have lost their home in the past two years because of the evictions for debt and insolvency. „State has to impede the home loosing of those, who have already lost their jobs and existence. These people has to be abled to remain in their homes as tenants, also in the case they loose their right of property of their own homes” – is written in the communique of the HSF-SR. The signatory organisations, among them the Christian Social Workshop, strictly linked with the new ruling coalition member, the Christian Democrat party rejecting the demand, has offered their social and professional help to the governemnt for paving the way to the implementation in Hungary of the fundamental right for housing.+++
